A Good Friday Liturgy – A simple and meditative service with the reading of the Passion according to St John’s, prayer for the world, showing and veneration of the Cross, and extended Holy Communion from the Blessed Sacrament reserved at the Maundy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Mass is not celebrated on this day.
The liturgy follows the Western custom of having the formal prayers of intercession (General Intercessions) prior to the veneration of the Cross - not vice versa as suggested in Common Worship: Times and Seasons.
